The Tsutakawa Endowment

Marcus Tsutakawa Endowment

The Marcus Tsutakawa Endowment (the “Endowment”) was founded in 2002 with a single generous donation, to honor Marcus and the incredible Garfield orchestra program that started in 1985 with just 19 students.  The Endowment is designed to exist in perpetuity, so that its growth and income may be used to sustain and enhance the orchestra program.

Over the years, enrollment in the orchestra program has steadily increased, and Marcus continues to provide an environment of mutual respect, challenging repertoire and outstanding performance opportunities for students to hone their musical interests. In turn, Garfield Orchestra students have unrivalled dedication and enthusiasm for Mr. Tsutakawa and the program.

Income earned from the Endowment can be used for operational costs, such as the significant costs of purchasing new instruments, allowing Friends of Garfield Orchestra to focus on other expenses.  A strong endowment allows the program to provide musical opportunities for students for years to come.

We welcome your contributions and bequests, and you can make a donation to the Endowment on-line. Donations are tax deductible, to the full extent as permitted by law.  If you would like to make a gift of appreciated stock or a bequest, please contact the Endowment Chair at for assistance with the process.

Thank you for your support, and here’s to another musical year!
